Rafael Araujo Biography

Rafael Araujo was born in Curitiba on the 12th of August 1980. His birth name was Rafael Paula de Lara Araujo. He is an acclaimed figure of Brazilian Sports. At present he is playing with the pro basketball team Clube de Regatas do Flamengo.

He attended Padre Anacleto High School of Sao Pualo. After studying at Sao Pualo’s high school he went to the United States of America where he joined the Arizona Western College of Yuma. He joined the basketball team of the college. During his first season he managed to score an average of 8.4 rebounds along with 12.1 points.

After staying there he moved to Utah where he gained admission in the Brigham Young University of Provo. While being a junior player he managed to maintain his average score. He was ranked as the Co Player of the Year when he initiated his senior season. The title was announced during the Mountain West Conference. He reached the height of his career on the 6th of December 2003 by scoring thirty two points with seventeen rebounds in a game against the Oklahoma State.

He began his pro basketball career in 2004. Araujo was selected by the Toronto Raptors in the NBA Draft. He was the first college senior who was drafted in 2004. On the 5th of January 2005 he set a career topping score of fourteen rebounds during a game against the Sacramento Kings and on the 9th of January he scored fourteen points against the GSW (Golden State Warriors).
