Nina Hagen Biography
German singer Catharina Hagen is best known as Nina Hagen among her fans. She was born on 11th March 1955 in East Berlin, East Germany to Hans Hagen and Eva-Maria Hagen. Hagen’s father was a scriptwriter and mother was a singer and actress. When she was just two years old her parents divorced and her mother raised her as a single parents. At the age of four she studied ballet and her keen interest in music also urged her to know more and more about it.
Hagen’s mother married Wolf Biermann and that time she was just eleven years old. She was not so much interested in studies so she left school and joined a music band at the age of sixteen. During the shows she added Tina Turner and Janis Joplin songs and after gaining some popularity she completed her graduation. She attended crash-course performance program and later formed band Automobil. In a short span of time her name was included in the list of top young performers and her song “Du hast den Farbfilm vergessen” gained more popularity for her. Unfortunately she had to leave the country due to some personal issues in 1976. In 1977 she formed Nina Hagen Band and released her debut album in 1978. In 1979 she left the band after a clash with other band members. Hagen has a son from her relationship with Frank Chevallier. She has released several albums and singles and on July 16th, 2010 her latest album hit the shelves.
